UTO has released the ASU directory module for use on department Drupal sites.

What is it? It's a module for Drupal 5.x that you can install which will give you blocks of people in groups. All information is pulled from the directory. Once you've created the blocks, they can then be assigned to any page or location on your pages.

What is it used for? It's perfect for creating a dynamic staff/about page which will update to match the people in your directory

Does it have other features? Yes, it has the ability to change the order of members, add additional information to each person, or even hide people from displaying on the page. For example, you may not want to display student workers on your staff page, so you can hide them in that particular block.

Why should I use it? The main reason for using it is to provide an updated list of your staff members. You can create an about page in roughly 5 minutes which is dynamically updated and doesn't require much work or know-how to get setup. If you do have questions, there are some troubleshooting steps in the readme.txt file, included in the module.

Where can I get it? Please visit this link to download

A bug was found in the email address section of the module. If you've downloaded the module before the date/time of this message, please grab the bugfixed version. Thanks to Rudy for finding that issue!

Are there plans for this to be enabled for non-Drupal sites?

Thanks

Deb,

We will be glad to share the code, as well as the API details and show you how to make the call to the directory web service. The only catch is that you won't have the other bells and whistles that the Drupal module version has (i.e. custom titles, research area etc).
