Flash thermometer

Hello! We'd like to build a dynamic animated thermometer. Here's the idea (this is an animated gif).

There are Flash solutions out there but they start at $70. This seems really easy, but right now I'm low on "tinker around and figure stuff out" time. Does anyone have a solution I could borrow?

Thanks!
Stacy

P.S. -- would anyone be interested in a Flash preloader in the shape of a pitchfork? Something I want to do when I start having time again...

This is really easy to do.  I don't recommend using Flash though because it is not as accessible as a standard GIF or JPG image...or even pure CSS.  Tufts uses a .gif.  Which web framework/language are your pages?  I might be ablel to get you a basic example.

cheers,

Cameron

We're using ASP/ASP.NET.

I'd still prefer Flash... this is geared toward a technical crowd who will probably have the ability to see SWFs.

Thanks!

How are you planning on the flash piece reading the temperature? xml? text file? query string?

If you haven't already created this, I can possibly help out a bit.
