ASU Web Hosting
ASU UTO now offers web hosting resources. The web hosting project is modeled after services available from commercial web hosting providers-and we think it rivals some of the best in the business.
ASU Web Hosting accounts come with many extras. MySQL database access is standard for all accounts. Prepackaged scripts are available through an easy installation interface, as well as standard ASU WebAuth functionality. We offer SSL capability on a case by case basis, with free ASU SSL secure certification. In addition, multiple sites can be hosted on one account.
With the service, you get a webhosting account with the DirectAdmin interface (below). That account has ssh access as well as sftp access to the server your site is on. Domains are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Staff and faculty can generally request domains on the *.asu.edu level, while personal, club, and course pages will be assigned at the *.personal.asu.edu or *.club.asu.edu level.
We are currently working on building an enterprise-level solution for Drupal/PHP, so if you are running a site that requires enterprise-level support, please contact Adrian Teo. We'll get back to you with the info about this new service as it becomes available.
ASU Web Hosting services run on a cluster of Linux servers, running Apache with PHP5 capability (i.e. LAMP). The servers are backed up on a regular basis for disaster recovery, so your data is always safe and secure.
Best of all, it's 100% free!
