This is what we have on the ASU web:
This is what we want:
You got your programming in my graphic design! You got your graphic design in my programming! Two great tastes that taste great together.
*I've come back after a meeting to edit this, realizing that this applies to content and the design and the technology. So, three great tastes. Mr. Tufte talks about seamlessly incorporating all elements into a piece, so you can no longer tell where the content stops and the design begins, and how you can tell how the organization is structured by the way their org chart is produced. I think our web reflects our organization: the content is produced in one kitchen, the design is produced in the next, and then the technology is made in yet another, or any jogging of that order. I think there has been energy to eliminate the seperate kitchens over the last few years, and I'm excited about this community and the direction of the web. We all speak different languages (acronyms - DWA! ) as we're coming to this table together, and we have different perspectives of the university from our work environment. I'm looking forward to learning about all the different areas I'm unfamiliar with, and more about the ones I am familiar with.

Nice analogy. Great post. I totally agree with you. That's the direction we need to go in. Mix it up! Collaborate! Get to know one another and talk together and make things together.
Excellent!
