The tan area in the middle would be content specific to the user if they were logged in. This comp is showing student content (which would be the default). The large feature area would be flash slide show to accomodate multiple features. larger size

What I like most about this design is the user-specificity. (Say that aloud three times in a row.)
Having unique content delivered in a central part of the ASU website will definitely give clients some ownership on the page, and make it more relevant to their specific wants/needs.
I've always enjoyed websites with multiple feature stories, as you have it illustrated.
If I had to change one thing on this page, it would be the dark gradient in the middle. It's a little distracting to my eye, and somewhat different than the simple look of other ASU websites.
You guys are doing some great work!
(Oh yeah, and I'm a full-time student, part time staff, per your previous posting.)
This is my favorite because I think it has a nice balance of being stylized and business like (professional). The sections are split nicely and it is easy to look at. And there's not too much maroon and gold. Nice!
My other pick is William's Round 1 revision but I think this one is laid out a tab better. I dunno, I'm torn.
I like the idea of just one featured photo/story at a time because visitors will not be on the page long enough to read more. The photo area and the right column next to it offer tons of space for disseminating and marking what "New American University" means. Just need to make sure we have a clear "call to action".
Thank you for not using maroon links.
cheers,
Cameron
I am an ASU alumni and current ASU Media Relations employee. This one is my favorite for a number of reasons:
1. It's clean and visually interesting.
2. It's easy to locate items on the page like links, subjects, etc.
3. It seems to have a space for everything. There's still a major news element on the page but there's also a clear cut section for prospective students (which I think is very important), current students, faculty, staff, observers, etc.
4. It looks like the feature story section will be flash driven and cycle through 3 different features, with the option of fast-forwarding to a particular one. I think this is a great way to showcase all the features but create a stronger visual element by focusing on them one at a time.
