Of all the comps that I have seen this direction is the most pleasing. This grid structure organizes the content, links and navigation so that there is no over saturation in one particular area. I do not feel bombarded by information. In addition, I like the placement of the search form. Most content driven web sites tend to put this form in the upper right as well. The “call-to-action” areas are inviting with the use photography. The site could use one of the many open source Javascript frameworks to apply interactivity to certain ares of the home page. For example, when the user's mouse hovers over the News Features they should illuminate.
