I noticed the master page for the new ASP.NET uses a menu.xml file if there is no database to draw from, in order to generate the left column menu. Is there a reason why it doesn't use a web.sitemap?

The ASU template page has been saying the PHP templates are coming soon for a long time now. Does anyone know when/if they will be available?
