As a college student, you must be aware of the current issues that our environment is facing and proactively take measures to address them in whatever means you can. Have a proactive sustainable mindset and attitude

The first step to a sustainable lifestyle is to change your habits and to adapt a proactive mindset. Science says that it only takes around 21 days to form a new habit, so it is essential that you are conscious of your actions every day, ensuring that it aligns with the ultimate goals of sustainable living. Always ask yourself these questions, will this have a negative environmental impact? If I buy this product, will it do more harm than good? It is better to have an internal debate over things that might seem simple rather than pointlessly purchasing items and performing actions that can potentially harm our environment.

Be conscious of your wasteful behaviors. such as using too many plastic cups, buying from the vending machines, and purchasing fast food daily. Consider going thrift shopping and avoid accumulating too much clothing, as the fashion industry is one of the most significant contributors to global pollution. Try to adapt to a minimalist lifestyle and consider donating your unwanted clothes so others may still use them. Only purchase what you need and remove items that have no purpose or significant value. Sustainable living means less is more, and simple is almost always better.

Always be conscious of your decisions

Before going out, remember to unplug all your appliances and turn on your gadget's energy-saving settings. Instead of riding public transportation or driving your car, you can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by walking or riding your bicycle. Bring your cutlery when dining out, your tumbler, and consider using reusable straws. When buying groceries, check the label and verify that it has the energy star symbol, which indicates that it is energy efficient. Choose products in non-plastic containers such as milk in paper cartons or items in glass containers.

Bring your eco-friendly bags and use mesh for your produce instead of putting them in plastic bags. Opt to buy environmentally-friendly products for your toiletries and cosmetics, such as bamboo toothbrushes, lush shampoos, and soap bars. When cleaning your dorm or apartment, avoid buying expensive cleaning products and use baking soda and vinegar instead.
